Frequently asked questions

General

Your current settings will not change. When Crop Controller is enabled, it overrides these settings. When Crop Controller is disabled, the system returns to the original settings.

Crop Controller needs a stable internet connection to function. A local backup is required at the location. An alarm will be sent to the monitoring team at Blue Radix as soon as the internet connection is lost. Crop Controller will still follow the last setpoints it has received in the event of a loss of connection, but an Autonomous Greenhouse Manager (AGM) will reach out as soon as possible.

Use the forgot password” option. Otherwise, contact your designated Autonomous Greenhouse Manager (AGM) by email or phone and they will guide you through the process to reset your login.

Each location that has access to the Crop Controller has an assigned Autonomous Greenhouse Manager (AGM). You can also contact the AGM directly. The Crop Controller portal includes a chat feature located at the bottom left of the screen. When you use this feature, one of our designated Autonomous Greenhouse Managers (AGMs) will respond to your questions.

If you change the settings, the changes will appear in the portal within the next hour.

Crop Controller uses data in 5-minute intervals. It continuously retrieves this data from the climate computer. When new data is available, a pop-up will appear showing ‘New data is available’.

The “Optimized at Sunrise” line in the graph shows the optimization that was made at sunrise. The “Optimized Now” line shows the most recent optimization made by Crop Controller. This is the current target Crop Controller is working to achieve. It updates continuously.

Climate

At a specific radiation level, the temperature will reach a certain value. The settings in this tab determine the 24-hour average temperature in the greenhouse. Learn more about the temperature settings here

When a fixed temperature is set for sunrise, Crop Controller will aim to reach this temperature. However, the target must be realistic based on available data and external conditions. Learn more about the temperature settings here

This setting controls how quickly the temperature increases as radiation increases. A higher value will result in a greater temperature rise when the radiation sum goes up. Learn more about the temperature settings here

When a fixed temperature is set for sunrise, Crop Controller will work to achieve this. However, the target must be realistic based on available data and external factors. These are the maximum and minimum 24-hour average temperature parameters for your strategy. The actual air temperature may occasionally exceed or fall below these values as it works to reach your 24-hour average strategy targets. Learn more about the temperature settings here

For now, Crop Controller only controls the lower pipe circuit.

In the setpoints and installations graph at the bottom of the Climate tab, there is a “Min & Max” toggle that lets you view the parameters set by Crop Controller.

Crop Controller takes these into account but will not override them. They will continue to work as you are accustomed to.

Irrigation

The irrigation module will execute the optimal irrigation based on your strategy. This module is integrated with the climate control, making sure to use the projected climate for the coming days as well. Crop Controller will continuously send irrigation setpoints to your climate computer and adjust these based on the plant activity, slab weight and and climate conditions.

Crop Controller needs drain and weight measurements from the slab and preferably EC measurements from the drain and/ or substrate. We can connect to multiple slab scale providers. If you already have a slab scale installed a connection to Crop Controller is easily made. In case you consider installing a new sensor, please reach out to you AGM for advice.

Strategy

Available energy is the total amount of energy—measured in joules—that plants can utilize for growth and development. It is derived from both natural sunlight and artificial lighting within the greenhouse. This energy is influenced by the greenhouse’s location, its light transmission properties, and key climatic parameters such as temperature and CO₂ concentration, which affect photosynthesis efficiency.

The days to harvest are the number of days from flower setting to the harvest-ready stage. We register the realized days from flowering until a harvest ready product (coloring), and the expected days under planning. We plan the expected days from flowering to harvest. More about crop registration here

The graphs will show a gap in case of missing crop registration data. Ensure that your crop registrations are done untill the current week.

How to do crop registration in the Strategy Optimizer, see here
