This article helps you set irrigation targets and fine-tune watering schedules to optimize plant growth. Learn how to configure first irrigation timing, saturation moments, and drainage targets while leveraging radiation-based adjustments for improved efficiency.

The irrigation module enables you to configure irrigation control as part of your custom strategy.

How Does It Work?

  • Set your irrigation targets and preferences.
  • Crop Controller calculates the optimal timing for first irrigation, saturation, last shot and optional night irrigation.
  • Crop Controller generates optimal irrigation setpoints based on your inputs.

Using the Irrigation Settings

The irrigation settings are divided into three key sections:

  • First irrigation timing and targets
  • First saturation moment
  • Drain target and last irrigation of the day

These settings allow Crop Controller to create a consistent and robust irrigation strategy.

First irrigation

Define when the first irrigation of the day should occur.

  • Latest time: Set a fixed time or an offset from sunrise.
  • At radiation (optional): Specify a radiation intensity or cumulative radiation level to trigger irrigation earlier than the scheduled time.
  • Dry down target: Set the desired percentage of slab saturation reduction before the first irrigation.
    Crop Controller will calculate the optimal final irrigation time on the previous day to meet this target.

First saturation

Set the timing for the first full saturation of the slab, based on light conditions.

  • Latest time: Define the latest time (fixed or offset from sunrise) by which saturation should occur on dark days.
  • At radiation intensity: Set the radiation level that should trigger saturation earlier on sunny days.

Drain target

Define the desired drain levels to be achieved by the end of the day, depending on light conditions.

  • Latest dry down start – sunset offset: set the latest time at which the final shot is allowed to take place. Crop Controller will choose the optimal moment before this time
  • Minimum drain %: Target drain level for dark days.
  • Maximum drain %: Target drain level for sunny days
