This guide helps you fine-tune humidity management in your greenhouse, ensuring optimal plant growth by balancing humidity and temperature through smart adaptive corrections.

Humidity correction is an optional module in Crop Controller that prioritizes humidity over temperature. With this feature switched ‘on,’ Crop Controller adjusts the setpoints for minimum and maximum window positions to steer towards your humidity target.

How does this functionality work?

Humidity correction follows these steps:

  • You set your humidity targets in the Crop Controller portal.
  • Crop Controller continuously monitors if the measured humidity levels are within target.
  • If the humidity level deviates from the target, Crop Controller applies a correction to the minimum and maximum window positions to regulate humidity.
  • Adaptive algorithms prevent over-correction by considering external conditions proactively.

Humidity Correction: A Two-Way Approach

Crop Controller applies humidity correction in two ways:

Humidity Saving – Closing the windows to retain moisture and prevent excessive dryness.

Humidity Reduction – Opening the windows to discharge humid air and prevent excess moisture buildup.

Choose for separate periods

You can choose to divide a day into periods with different humidity targets:

Single: choose for the same targets throughout the day as a single period

Day/ night: choose targets for day time (between sunrise & sunset) and separately for night time (between sunset and sunrise)

Time based: define max 3 periods based on start time

How to Set Your Humidity Targets in the Portal

  1. Access the settings via the humidity icon in the sidebar.
  2. Switch on Humidity Saving and Humidity Reduction. For optimal results, both settings should be activated together.
  3. Choose between Single/ Day night/ Time based. This enables to set different targets on specific periods of the day.
  4. Set the desired Absolute Humidity. Humidity targets are linked to temperature. By defining a few reference points for temperature and absolute humidity, Crop Controller determines the desired humidity across the full temperature range.
  5. After setting the targets, your Autonomous Greenhouse Manager will configure the speed of humidity correction based on your preference – from moderate changes in window positions to more aggressive adjustments for faster results.
